TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the third time this season and the fifth time in her career, Florida SouthWestern righthander Zoe Yzaguirre has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week as announced by the State office on Tuesday.
Yzaguirre factored into the decision for three Top 10 wins for the Bucs last week. She came in in relief to earn the win over #10 Indian River on Tuesday with two scoreless innings out of the bullpen and backed that up in game two of the doubleheader with 2 2/3 more scoreless frames to pick up the save as the Bucs completed the sweep of the rival Pioneers. Saturday she was used in a relief role again in game one against #6 Santa Fe, firing four innings of two hit ball as FSW came from behind and eventually downed the Saints 5-2 in extra innings to earn her the win in the circle.
On the season Yzaguirre now sits at 16-2 with an FCSAA best 0.93 ERA. She has 109 strikeouts in her 97 1/3 innings pitched and has allowed opponents to hit just .146 against her.
Yzaguirre and the Bucs are back in action Tuesday in Tampa with a chance to clinch their 10th consecutive Conference Championship as they take on Hillsborough in a doubleheader beginning at 4 PM.
