Freshman* (2021): Fitz-Gerald transfers to FSW after playing last season at Hillsborough where he played in 35 games, hitting .279 with 7 home runs and 24 RBIs for the Hawks.  Fitz-Gerald did some of his damage against his now teammates, homering twice against FSW last season. 

Freshman (2020): Fitz-Gerald played his freshman season at NCAA Division II Florida Southern where he saw action in four games for the Mocs.  

High School: Fitz-Gerald prepped at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School where he earned a pair of Baseball letters. He was the class 9A Player of the Year as a senior, hitting .515 with 9 home runs and 31 RBIs.  

Personal: Born December 9, 2000, he is the son of Colleen and Todd Fitz-Gerald who played Baseball at Lincoln Memorial University.  He has a younger brother, Devin (16).

Bucs Upended To Force Deciding Game Three

The #8 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers scored three runs in the top of the 1st as the visiting team at home at City of Palms Park Saturday afternoon against the Indian River Pioneers in game two of the Fort Myers Regional portion of the FCSAA State Tournament, but they didn't score again as the Bucs went six innings without a hit after the hot start and watched as their lead disintegrated  in the 4th inning and the Pioneers took a lead they never relinquished in the 5th as Indian River took the game 4-3 to force a third and deciding game in the series.

Suncoast Conference Pitcher of the Year Magnus Ellerts threw six scoreless innings and Suncoast Conference Fireman of the Year Brian Holiday threw three innings of one hit baseball to close out the shutout as the #8 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers cruised past the Indian River Pioneers 7-0 in game one of their best of three series to kick off the 2022 FCSAA State Tournament in Fort Myers.

The #9 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers wrapped up the best regular season by a Suncoast Conference team in at least 15 years on Wednesday, blasting the State College of Florida Manatees 14-5 to finish the regular season 40-14 overall and a sparkling 24-4 in conference play.

Tomaini Walks Off Titans to Complete Sweep

The #9 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers missed a number of scoring chances Saturday afternoon at City of Palms Park as they took on the St. Petersburg Titans, but with the game on the line, FSW's Paxton Tomaini made them forget all of them as the sophomore came through with a walk off single in the bottom of the 9th to give the Bucs a 4-3 win and complete FSW's fourth conference sweep of the season.

Chase Chatman and Brian Holiday dominated on the mound and the #9 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers banged out 11 hits at the plate Friday night to give the Bucs a 3-1 win over the St. Petersburg Titans to clinch their fifth consecutive Suncoast Conference series win.

Bucs Tear Continues In Blowout Of Polk

Right now the #14 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are a runaway train and you don't want to be downhill of the Bucs on the track. FSW won their 13th straight game overall and 11th straight in Suncoast Conference play  Saturday afternoon on the road at #20 Polk State, blowing out the Eagles 15-4 in an 8 inning run rule behind a 19 hit attack and 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief out of the bullpen from lefty Grant Besser.

The #14 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers won their program record 12th game in a row in style Friday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers, hammering the visiting and 20th ranked Polk State Eagles 10-2 to take a two game lead over Polk in the Suncoast Conference standings.

The #16 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers scored eight unanswered runs in the middle innings to come from behind and defeat the State College of Florida Manatees 11-6 Monday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers.  The win is the 10th straight for FSW and clinches their third consecutive Suncoast Conference series victory.

The #16 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers made short work of the State College of Florida Manatees Saturday afternoon in Bradenton, jumping out to a 10-0 lead after three innings and going on to win 17-4 to extend their season long winning streak to nine games.

The #18 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers finished off their first Suncoast Conference series sweep of what they hope to be many this season, Monday afternoon in Clearwater, hammering the St. Petersburg Titans 10-2 behind five no-hit innings from Frank Elissalt and a 15 hit attack from the offense to improve to 4-2 in conference play on the season.

Two days ago Florida SouthWestern's Hunter Fitz-Gerald did in the Polk State Eagles with a three home run, seven RBI game in the two teams Suncoast Conference opener, Monday the Bucs got the favor returned as Polk's Jack Duffy launched three long balls to lead the Eagles to an 8-7 extra innings win to even the series at one game apiece.

Defensive Blunders Prove Costly For Bucs in Loss

Through seven innings, everything was going according to plan for the #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers as they led the Pasco-Hernando State Bobcats 2-0 in their final non-conference game of the 2022 season.  From there thing went South though as the Bucs made three consecutive errors on the mound in the top of the 8th, leading to six Bobcat runs and the deficit proved too much as FSW got three back in the bottom of the frame, but eventually fell 6-5 to snap a three game winning streak.

The #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers clubbed four home runs and five FSW pitchers allowed just five hits as the Bucs rolled past the Pasco-Hernando State Bobcats 11-2 in the front end of a quick home and home between the two.

Bucs Break Out Against Silver Storm

After dropping three straight games by a total of four runs, the #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers took out their frustrations on the ASA Miami Silver Storm Friday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers, ripping the ASA pitching staff for 30 runs in a doubleheader to sweep the Silver Storm 17-7 and 13-8 to improve to 10-8 on the year.

Defense Lets Bucs Down in First Loss of the Season

In their first 10 games of the season, the #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers committed just seven errors as a team, going a perfect 10-0 in those contests.  Friday night in their 11th game of the year, they committed nearly the same amount, racking up six blunders on the defensive end, ultimately costing them their first loss of the season in a 7-6 defeat to the Gulf Coast State Commodores in their first of four games in Palatka this weekend.

Pitching/Clutch Hitting Gives #15 FSW Berth in Championship Game

The #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers stormed their way into Sunday's Championship game at the 2022 Perfect Game Juco Classic in Panama City, thumping #18 Florence-Darlington Tech 8-2 in their quarterfinal matchup Saturday morning and Wallace State 5-2 Saturday night to advance to the title game.

A season after having more players drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft than any other NJCAA program in the country, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers seemed to have retooled just fine as Prep Baseball Report has 14 Bucs listed in their Juco Top 350 Prospects list, more than any other team in the state of Florida and the second most of any team in the country.
