Bucs Ace Named FCSAA Pitcher of the Week
For the first time this season and third time in her Florida SouthWestern career, Bucs ace Zoe Yzaguirre has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week the State announced Tuesday.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the first time this season and third time in her Florida SouthWestern career, Bucs ace Zoe Yzaguirre has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week the State announced Tuesday.
Yzaguirre was lights out in three games for the Bucs last week, going 2-1 with a 0.84 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings pitched. She began her week with five no-hit innings against State College of Florida on Tuesday in a 13-0 FSW win. Friday she was back at it, throwing four shutout frames and striking out 10 in an 8-0 Bucs shutout of Volunteer State. After beginning her sophomore season with 18 straight scoreless frames, she finally gave up a run in her third appearance of the week, but still went the distance and then some against #11 Chipola, racking up 12 strikeouts against the Lady Indians in the process.
Yzaguirre and the Bucs will give fans plenty of chances to see them at home this week as they host the Paradise Cove Classic in Fort Myers. The Bucs will open tournament play Wednesday with a 1:00 PM doubleheader against Spoon River followed by two against #25 Southern Idaho at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Buccaneers Park. Venues will shift Friday and Saturday when the action moves over to Lee Health Sports Complex where the Bucs will take on Salt Lake Friday and close out the tournament with St. Johns River on Saturday.
