Bucs Spend Seventh Week Atop Shuffled Up Rankings
17 of the 20 teams in the week seven NJCAA National Rankings found themselves in new spots this week, one of the three that didn’t, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers who held their #1 post for the seventh straight week as they remained perfect at 20-0 after two more wins last week.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- 17 of the 20 teams in the week seven NJCAA National Rankings found themselves in new spots this week, one of the three that didn't, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers who held their #1 post for the seventh straight week as they remained perfect at 20-0 after two more wins last week.
The Bucs earned a pair of Citrus Conference road sweeps last week, first downing Indian River 3-0 Wednesday in Fort Pierce before taking a highly contested three setter with #17 Daytona State on Saturday for their 11th win over a ranked opponent this season. The wins push FSW's win streak to 32 games spanning the end of their 2022 National Championship run and the first 20 games of this season.
With a number of upsets across the Top 20 this week, the week seven rankings saw a significant shuffle. Following the Bucs at #1 were Northeastern and Salt Lake who made three spot jumps and Miami Dade and Navarro who both trended down two. The three other FCSAA squads in the poll all saw a jump with Polk State sliding up one spot to #14, Daytona State two spots to #15, and Eastern Florida three to #17 after their victory over Miami Dade.
Things don't get any easier in the Bucs schedule this week as they finish off a four game road stretch with two more tests against ranked opponents as they take on #14 Polk State Wednesday in Winter Haven before making the long trek to Melbourne to play #17 Eastern Florida on Saturday.
